Are you looking for a dimly lit romantic dinner experience or a culinary feasting that will wow your taste buds? I’m on a quest to find the best date night spots in Los Angeles, so no matter what experience you’re looking for, I can give you the best date night restaurant recommendations in L.A. I’m taking a variety of factors into consideration: food, price, ease of booking, ambiance, and more.
Best romantic date night spot
Stepping into the Inn of the Seventh Ray dining area, you are surrounded by lush green foliage and twinkling lights to set the scene for a unique and romantic dinner. While there’s an indoor dining area, the majority of the dining is done al fresco under decorated tents with the sounds of the bubbling nearby brook and the tinkling of the lit fountain.

Guests also have the option of reserving a semi-private gazebo table ($150) for a truly intimate and romantic experience set apart from the rest of the dining area.
The menu features a wide range of food from pasta, risotto, fish, and filet mignon and many appetizer and entree options can be made vegan or gluten-free. Unfortunately, there are no vegan or gluten-free options for dessert other than their ice cream offering.
The Inn is also a wedding and event venue that can accommodate up to 250 guests, which turns the magical ambiance of a date night out into a truly unique event space.

Nearly vegan & gluten-free heaven
During our visit, we tried the gluten-free bread with fennel seed butter (yummy), braised short rib (amazing!), and the rigatoni with black Angus ragu. I personally did not try the rigatoni because I am gluten-free, but I had a mini taste of the Angus beef, and it was flavorful.

Overall, everything we tasted was top quality with amazing flavor. From the warm baked bread to the savory short rib. And knowing it was preservative and additive-free is a bonus.
The food is a winner, but the ambiance makes dining at The Inn nearly magical. The Inn of the Seventh Ray offers a romantic ambiance paired with excellent food. From the soft lights and bubbling creek–which legend says was a sacred meeting place for the Chumash Indians–you cannot go wrong with a date night here.
Not to miss: The spectacular views of the San Fernando Valley when you exit the winding canyons of Topanga. The view will take your breath away. This will be an unforgettable date-night experience at one of the best date-night spots in LA.
